Learning in the Sun

So ... yesterday's weather was such a treat that I knew we had to do some learning outside.  To accompany our plant lesson, we went outside, ate our snack, and read some interesting books about seeds and plants.  Today we took it a bit farther and labeled parts of a plant in our science journal.  The students are loving watching their plants grown inside their terrariums every day.  We do have a couple of students that do not have any sprouts yet in their terrarium yet.  Those students must get their green thumb or lack thereof from me.  Poor guys! Hopefully everyone's will grow by the end of our week.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Monk

Green thumb?

Today we planted seeds and made our very own terrariums.  The kids loved getting to take ownership and actually plant, water, and put their terrarium near sunlight.  We will be making observations all next week to see how much each of their seeds grow.  We will find out who in our class a true green thumb.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Monk

Here are the terrariums!

A great way to end to end my day.  A surprise door from the awesome room moms! (It of course is the cutest door in the whole school!!)
